Phoenix-Area Schools Have Been Working To Increase Security

Survivors of last week’s shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School are expected to travel to Tallahassee this week to talk to Florida state lawmakers about school safety and gun control.

Some also have plans to march on Washington, D.C., next month.

An analysis by The Washington Post finds more than 150,000 students attending at least 170 primary or secondary schools have experienced a shooting on campus since the Columbine High School shooting in 1999.

What can schools do to increase security on campus?

Juve Lopez is executive director for logistics at Phoenix Union High School District.
