Pelosi Criticizes Tax Bill During Stop In Phoenix

Nancy Pelosi criticized the Republican-led tax cuts during a town hall in Phoenix on Tuesday, as part of a 100-city tour by Democrats to highlight their opposition to the tax bill.

Pelosi, who serves as House minority leader, said the tax cuts passed by Congress late last year will hurt the middle class. She warned that Republicans may go after entitlement programs, including Medicaid and Medicare, to help pay for the cuts.

“This is not about Democrats or Republicans. This is about the United States of America,” Pelosi said. “And this tax bill will be very damaging to our future. It robs for the future to the tune of trillions of dollars.”

She was joined several other well-known Democrats at the public town hall, including Arizona Rep. Raul Grijalva. He’ll be at the next stop on the tour in Tucson on Wednesday.
