Emily Bear, pianist and composer.

Pianist Emily Bear has done a lot so far in her career: she’s played Carnegie Hall and the White House, put out albums and gotten into composing. And she’s only 16 years old.

Bear has done jazz and classical — she was on Ellen when she was 6. She recently stopped by our studios for a chat, and I started by asking her a question she’s probably been asked about a billion times already, how she started playing piano.

Sixteen-year-old pianist Emily Bear’s latest album is called “Into the Blue.” And, by the way, she mentioned she’s gotten into scoring films; the music you hear at the end of the interview is her work, from the 2017 film, "Aurora."
