A Phoenix activist group is looking to help drivers avoid getting pulled over for minor infractions.
The Phoenix chapter of the Democratic Socialists of America is hosting its first ever "Gimme a Brake (Light)" event on Saturday, where car owners can get their lights repaired and replaced for free.
Chapter Chair Taylor Cifuentez said over a dozen volunteers will be on hand to help car owners.
"We're just providing a service to our community, and allowing people to get their brake lights changed for free," Cifuentez said. "We'll have some community groups tabling there, and you can learn how to get plugged into the community and participate in more mutual aid events."
The event begins at 8 a.m. and lasts all day at the IUPAT Hall at 24th Street and Van Buren in Phoenix.
