A Denver-based company is setting up shop in Mesa’s Elliot Road technology corridor.

A large power supply, low energy costs and low risk for natural disasters are key reasons EdgeCore broke ground on its $150 million facility.

At full buildout, EdgeCore expects to have seven data centers totaling more than 1.25 million square feet in Mesa. The company gave no timetable for buildout, but says the first center should open later this year. It’s also building centers in Dallas and Reno.

“The Elliot Road Technology Corridor provides the infrastructure, including redundant power capacity and robust fiber networks, to support high-growth, high-technology business such as EdgeCore’s,” said Tom Ray, CEO and chairman.

Data centers house computer servers used by companies for remote storage, processing and distribution. EdgeCore’s Mesa campus will have an on-site substation to deliver the utility power to meet customer needs.
