More Traffic Stops Planned In Arizona For St. Patrick’s Day

State law enforcement will be cracking down on DUI drivers Saturday night for Saint Patrick’s Day.

Alberto Guitier, the director of the Arizona Governor's Office of Highway Safety, said there will be more traffic stops during the holiday.

"In all the holidays we put a lot of effort out there, we provide the overtime, we provide training, we provide the equipment that is used in some of the details, but in all the holidays all we are trying to do is make sure people are safe," he said.

Gutier emphasizes the importance of having a designated driver when partying or using transportation services like Uber, Lyft or a taxi.

He said even a person’s first DUI offense will cost thousands of dollars and result in a driver’s licence suspension.
