The Scottsdale Unified board met in executive session for more than two hours before deciding to start the process to terminate Superintendent Denise Birdwell and Chief Operations Officer Louis Hartwell.

The Scottsdale Unified School District Governing Board has taken steps to fire Superintendent Denise Birdwell and COO Louis Hartwell.

The pair has been on paid administrative leave since February.

Tuesday night, the governing board voted to adopt a “statement of charges” outlining the reasons for firing Birdwell and Hartwell.

Julie Cieniawski, teacher at Desert Canyon Middle School and president of the Scottsdale Education Association, joined The Show to talk about the board's decision.
