Home prices continue to rise nationwide, and in the West, prices are rising faster than anywhere else.

U.S. house prices are up in January, year over year, 7.3 percent on homes guararanteed by Fannie Mae or Freddie Mac, which is a measurement that excludes high-end or jumbo mortgage homes.

The Federal Housing Finance Agency, which calculates the House Price Index monthly, said this latest report shows the highest rate of increase since February of 2017.

But, while prices are rising, they are not rising equally. Mountain states, including Arizona, are outpacing the rest of the country, with a 10 percent year over year price rise.

Monthly, prices are also rising at a faster rate, with January's rise in prices moving up faster than December's.
