Boas On Driverless Cars And The Human Cost Of Technology

Now we’re going to check in with the Editorial Board of The Arizona Republic. It’s a regular segment where we talk about the big issues facing the state and the region — featured in the newspaper’s Viewpoints section.

Earlier this month, a crash involving an autonomous Uber vehicle killed a Tempe woman named Elaine Herzberg.

Nearly 40,000 people died in auto accidents in the U.S. in 2016, and the Uber accident has refocused the debate on how willing we are to rely on technology at the expense of human life. The Arizona Republic explored the subject in a recent editorial.

Editorial director Phil Boas joins The Show's Steve Goldstein for his weekly appearance to talk about it.
