TGen in Phoenix has opened its doors to current and retired National Football League players to provide samples — including blood and saliva.
It’s part of a project aimed at identifying the biomarkers that give indications of chronic traumatic encephalopathy (CTE).
The goal is also to make advances in identifying CTE in the brains of the living rather than simply being able to draw that conclusion via an autopsy.
TGen clinical trials manager Callie Hammsland joined The Show to talk about the study.
