Representatives of Mexico’s political parties will be in Arizona on Saturday night to take part in a forum on the country’s upcoming presidential election.
The presidential candidates themselves will not take part in the forum at Arizona State University in Tempe. They’ll be represented instead by a campaign coordinator, a diplomat, an adviser and a senator, who will each explain their candidate’s vision of migrant and foreign policy.
Mexicans living abroad can vote in the July election, as long as they obtained a voter identification card through their local consulate.
Voter turnout among Mexicans living abroad fell by about 10 percentage points in the country’s last presidential election in 2012.
