Phoenix Apartment Project Gives Adults With Autism Independence

One of the greatest worries for parents of children on the autism spectrum is whether their children will ever be able to live on their own when the parents and siblings are no longer around to either help or care for them. Later this year, the Valley will open its first project devoted to giving adults with autism a place to live in a semi-independent way and help them make that vital transition.

The project is called First Place Phoenix and includes a 55-unit apartment community, along with a transition academy for participants in a 2-year program.

To learn more, Denise Resnik, founder, president and CEO of First Place AZ, joined The Show on Tuesday. She also has a 26-year old son with autism.

Steve Goldstein was a host at KJZZ from 1997 to 2022.
