Arizona’s Jobless Rate Unchanged; 78K Added To Workforce In Past Year

Arizona’s jobless rate remains unchanged. The seasonally-adjusted figure stayed at 4.9 percent in March, same as February. That compares to the nationwide rate of 4.1 percent. Over the past month, Arizona’s labor force level increased by 9,171 — and over the past year by over 78,263 individuals.

Overall, the Department of Economic Opportunity reports private sector job growth has increased by 3 percent since March of 2017, with leisure and hospitality leading the gains.

The only marked decline in employment came in the public sector where 1,800 government jobs were shed last month.
