The 14th annual Pat’s Run was held outside Sun Devil Stadium in Tempe Saturday morning. Race committee member Christina Hundley said the funds raised by the run benefit the Pat Tillman Foundation, which helps veterans complete their degrees.
"Military scholars are a large bunch now," she said. "There's over 500 of them across the country and they’re able to continue their higher education through the funds granted to them through the scholarships for the Tillman scholars.”
Tillman played football at Arizona State University and later in the NFL. He left his professional career to serve in the military and was killed in action with the Army Rangers in Afghanistan.
