Arizona Food Bank Will Continue To Help Families During Teacher Walkout

A planned walkout by Arizona teachers is leading to the closure of dozens of school districts on Thursday. A statewide food bank says it will continue to make sure children in need receive meals during the strike.

St. Mary’s Food Bank distributes more than 7,000 after-school meals per day throughout Arizona. Most of the distribution sites are not at schools and will not be affected. St. Mary’s said it’s in the process of identifying additional temporary sites to replace the school locations to make sure those children continue to receive food.

The food bank also has plans to increase meal production by 25 percent if schools remain closed beyond Friday.

Families who do not participate in the normal feeding program can still pick up emergency food boxes for their children.

You can find more information on their website.
