U.S. Senator Jeff Flake provided an update on John McCain’s condition this weekend.
Flake visited McCain after the senior senator underwent surgery for an intestinal infection.
McCain’s wife, Cindy, tweeted that she and her husband have returned home to his ranch near Sedona. Flake said McCain looked physically weaker than the last time he saw him, but fully coherent.
“The treatments that he had were pretty darn tough, as they needed to be. So that’s tough to recover from, he said.
McCain has also been receiving treatment for a deadly form of brain cancer.
Flake said the senator was mentally sharp and they talked about their families and recent events they have attended. He also said McCain is still hoping to return to Washington, D.C.
