Trump Administration Has 90 Days To Explain Why It Wants To Stop DACA

A federal judge ruled Tuesday that protections must stay in place for those who hold DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) permits and that the government must resume accepting new applications.

It’s the third ruling this year from a federal judge against the Trump administration’s rollback of DACA — but its the first ruling requiring the government to also accept new applications.

But it doesn’t go into effect immediately.

The Washington, D.C., judge gave the administration 90 days to offer a new explanation for why it wants to rollback the program.

University of California, Davis law professor Gabriel Jack Chin, a scholar on immigration law, joined The Show to talk through the decision.
