The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has confirmed that 84 people nationwide have been sickened by E.Coli linked to romaine lettuce, including five people in Arizona. The CDC said some of the contaminated lettuce was grown in the Yuma region.
Brittany Behm with the CDC said the public is advised to avoid romaine lettuce at this time.
"Unfortunately it can be really difficult to know where your lettuce was actually grown," Behm said. "Oftentimes, companies or stores may not have a clear idea exactly where it was grown."
Behm also said to immediately contact your doctor if you show symptoms of E. coli contamination, which includes severe diarrhea and stomach cramps.
