After two days of teacher walkouts over education funding in Arizona, Gov. Doug Ducey and Republican decision makers say a budget deal is in hand.
House Speaker J.D. Mesnard said it means restoring funding cuts made during the recession 10 years ago.
"You can always find the naysayers and the skeptics, but this is real," Mesnard said. "This is going to be a major investment that this budget affords and affords really with a comfortable margin at the end of 2020.”
Mesnard said the $10 billion proposal promises teachers a 20 percent pay hike by 2020 and a raise for support staff.
