Can Arizona Teachers, Lawmakers Learn From Oklahoma's 9 Day Walkout?

Teacher strikes like the one playing out here right now have happened all over the country in recent weeks.

Colorado teachers also walked out of their classrooms last week and last month, teachers in West Virginia got a 5 percent pay raise after going on strike. Just a few weeks ago, Oklahoma teachers spent nine days rallying at the state capitol for more school funding.

But teachers there called off their walkout without getting the Oklahoma Legislature to meet all of their demands.

So, where has it left them?

For more on that, The Show talked with Emily Wendler, the state education reporter for KOSU’s StateImpact Oklahoma.

Lauren Gilger, host of KJZZ's The Show, is an award-winning journalist whose work has impacted communities large and small, exposing injustices and giving a voice to the voiceless and marginalized.
