Fire officials said communities are still at risk of a wildfire burning in northern Arizona. The Tinder Fire has burned about 11,000 acres.
The Tinder Fire has burned an unknown number of homes in the Blue Ridge area. The Emergency Management Team is still assessing which homes were destroyed and notifying those residents.
The Southwest Area Incident Management Team's Jason Clawson told residents at a community meeting in Winslow Monday night that firefighters have a good handle on the north flank of the fire in and around people's homes.
"The problem and the big picture that concerns us is everything to the south," Clawson said. "Until we feel confident with the weather that's coming in, we really can't open it up to the residents. We don't want to do this again."
The weather is expected to change later in the week, possibly bringing some rain. Winds died down slightly Monday enough to send in helicopters to fight the fire from above.
