St. Mary’s Food Bank distributed tens of thousands of meals to children and families while schools were closed during the teacher walkout.
Jerry Brown is with St. Mary’s. He said the meals were taken out of the food bank’s summer reserve, so now the agency wants to refill its shelves.
"We've been doing everything from increasing our emergency food boxes to increasing food in the community and we need to help restock some of that food,” he said.
Brown said the foods it needs the most are canned fruits and vegetables, peanut butter and canned meals.
