As the Tinder Fire continues to burn through Northern Arizona, officials are implementing new fire restrictions in the area.
Beginning Friday, stronger fire restrictions will go into effect on state-managed land across Northern Arizona. The Stage II restrictions forbid the use of campfires, open flames, chainsaws and most firearms.
Affected areas include Apache, Navajo and Yavapai counties, as well as Coconino County, south of the Grand Canyon.
Tiffany Davila is with the Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management.
“After tomorrow, most of Arizona will be under Stage II fire restrictions, so mostly all of Northern Arizona, all of Southern Arizona, all of Northeastern Arizona, basically the only counties that aren't under Stage II are Maricopa, Yuma and La Paz," she said.
Davila says all of Arizona has seen high fire activity this year.
