A long-running feud between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Maricopa County Stadium District over who should pay for work on Chase Field may soon come to an end — and district officials want to hear what the public thinks about a potential deal before they vote on Wednesday.
Stadium District officials will hold a meeting at 1 p.m. on Monday at the Board of Supervisors auditorium, 205 W. Jefferson St, so the public can weigh in on a proposed settlement of a lawsuit filed in 2017 by the Diamondbacks.
If the deal is approved, the Maricopa County Stadium District would invest no new taxpayer money on repairs or upgrades to Chase Field.
In turn, the Diamondbacks could immediately start to look for a new home.
The settlement would keep the team at Chase Field until at least the end of the 2022 season, unless the Diamondbacks move to another venue inside Maricopa County, or if Major League Baseball forces them to leave Arizona because of the condition of Chase Field.
