How Big Are The Cultural Divisions In America?

Our Towns: A 100,000 Mile Journey Into the Heart of America
Amazon.com

We’re all aware of the perception — and perhaps reality — that divisions within America are growing; that we’re becoming more factional, more tribal. Not a lot of that plays out on the political stage and is related to many social and cultural issues.

If you were to look at the U.S. in a more micro sense — community by community — would that perception change?

That’s one of the things author James Fallows and his wife, Deborah, explore in their new book "Our Towns: A 100,000 Mile Journey Into the Heart of America."
