Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake is welcoming the release of three Americans who had been held in North Korea.

A frequent critic of President Donald Trump, he praised the administration and Secretary of State Mike Pompeo for helping secure their release.

Appearing on MSNBC on Wednesday, Flake said he was glad to hear the prisoners were heading back to the United States.

“That I think can only be seen as good news, and I applaud the administration for being able to organize that. I hope that it carries forward to the negotiations," said Flake.

However, Flake — who is not running for re-election — has continued his criticism of the Trump in other areas this week. In reaction to the decision to pull out of the Iran nuclear deal, Flake told CNN, “I just don't think that it's a wise move."
