A jury in Alaska has convicted a former Arizona lawmaker of first-degree murder in the 2016 death of a man during a hunting and fishing trip.
Mark Desimone sat stone-faced as the jury declared him guilty of killing Duilio Antonio "Tony" Rosales.
Rosales suffered two shots to the back of his head while sitting outside a remote cabin near Juneau.
During the trial, another man on the trip said he heard Desimone say, "I shot him, I shot him. It's all my fault, I shot him.”
A judge has ordered Desimone held without bail pending sentencing. There is no death penalty in Alaska.
Desimone won a House seat in Arizona in 2006, but resigned in 2008, after being arrested in a domestic dispute with his then-wife. The case was later dropped, after he agreed to counseling.
