New Wildfire Burning 1,200 Acres Near Wilcox Arizona, Zero Percent Contained

A new wildfire has started 29 miles southeast of Willcox Arizona.

Tiffany Davila, spokeswoman for Arizona Department of Forestry and Fire Management, says the fire which started Saturday has reached 1,200 acres and was zero percent contained as of Sunday morning.

"We have a lot of aircraft that we had ordered yesterday (Staurday)," Davila said. "Unfortunately due to the high winds at the time and as we were getting close to evening conditions, we weren’t able to fly as much aircraft as we had hoped. We can’t fly aircraft at night.”

Davila said eight homes were under pre-evacuation notice Sunday morning.
