Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey will make another push for his school safety proposal. Governor’s Aide Dan Scarpinato said Ducey is determined to bring back the original plan.
Scarpinato said the governor’s middle-of-the road plan was crushed under demands of what he calls extremists from the right and left. The plan was altered to only allow police to issue court orders disarming violent people. Scarpinato said that’s not what the Governor had in mind.
"Why wait until there’s a shooting?" Scarpinato said. "Why wait until there’s a tragedy? We have the opportunity as the State of Arizona to do something now rather than waiting and that’s what he’d like to see happen.”
Scarpinato added that Ducey wants to see something that provides tools not only to law enforcement, but to parents and school officials as well.
