The Navajo Generating Station near Page, Arizona.

In determining the future of the Navajo Generating Station, Arizona Rep. Paul Gosar has suggested a bill that would allow the plant to be exempted from the National Environmental Policy Act to help a sale along in the permitting process.

But on Wednesday morning, Gosar’s press secretary said he will not introduce legislation this week and the hearing has been canceled. A hearing that, according to Arizona Republic business reporter Ryan Randazzo, was probably too late to effect any real change anyway, since SRP has begun winding down operations at the coal plant.
