Organic Food Industry Won't Get Its Own 'Got Milk' Campaign — And Some Farmers Are Happy About It

The organic food industry could have started its own checkoff program through the USDA , which would have raised money to fund research and marketing for organic foods.

You may not know what we mean when we say “ a checkoff program” — but you do know the "Got Milk?" and "Beef, it’s what’s for dinner" ads.

Those are all the result of checkoff programs for the dairy industry, the beef industry and the pork industry.

But, the organic food industry will not get it’s checkoff program. And, in fact, many organic farmers are happy about it.
