A $16 million campus expansion project at St. Vincent de Paul should be completed in 2018.

St. Vincent de Paul has opened a new family resource center. The facility, which opened its doors Friday, is the organization’s first major project in 25 years.

The new building will serve as an expanded shelter for elderly and disabled residents. It will also feature a new dedicated space for homeless families. Shannon Clancy is with St. Vincent de Paul. She said the facility includes additional showers for men, women and children, health screening, and job-readiness services.

"This whole project was built without government support, without any kind of contracts, really just with the generosity of people in the community  who said we want to come together to do more.”

Clancy said the building will offer additional intake offices, classrooms, a computer lab and a food pantry.
