Earlier this week, the Interim Director of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Thomas Homan told a House committee that the Trump administration would be stepping up deportations of families who’d been ordered to leave the country.
Homan told lawmakers these families have had their due process and have had an immigration judge order them to leave.
“Of course I expect a lot of letters saying why are we targeting families and not criminals," he said. "But if they’re given their due process and a federal judge makes the decision, if we don’t execute those decisions, there’s no integrity in the system.”
To get a sense of what the impact of this change might be, The Showspoke with Yendi Castillo, an immigration attorney based in Tucson.
