What’s In A Name? Higher Home Sales To Some Phoenix Buyers

A new analysis of home sales shows a strong year for metro Phoenix buyers with a certain last name.

ATTOM Data Solutions said it examined more than 2.3 million home sales across the country. When comparing sales from 2016 to 2017, it found the buyer name with the biggest increase in metro Phoenix was “Carter” while the last name with the biggest decrease was “Mitchell.”

ATTOM listed five categories: Chinese; Korean; Vietnamese; Spanish and Portuguese; and English, German and Scandinavian.

Phoenix was the top market for buyers with last names of English, German and Scandinavian origin, which included Woods, Hoffman, Russell, Larson and James.

Nationally, the top 8 names were of Chinese origin followed by Korean and Vietnamese. Check out the hottest names by state here.
