A study by the University of Arizona explored individuals’ psychological perceptions of e-book ownership.
While millennials tend to gravitate toward technology, associate professor Sabrina Helm said her research indicates otherwise.
“Our preconceived notion that the millenials that we had in our sample would prefer the e-book versus the older generation consumers would gravitate toward the physical book is absolutely not the case,” said Helm.
Helm said older consumers found more physical benefits such as the lightweight nature of e-readers and the ability to enlarge the text that may not be as relevant to younger consumers. She found that across the board participants said they were more emotionally attached to a physical book and felt a constricted sense of ownership for digital books.
