The pharmaceutical company Allergan has issued a voluntary recall for a birth control pill manufactured in Ireland. A recent report found issues with U.S. lot 5620706, Expiration May 2019, of Taytulla pills.
The company found that four placebo capsules were placed out of order in a sample pack of Taytulla. That means the first four days of therapy had four non-hormonal placebo capsules instead of active capsules.
As a result of the packaging error, the pills could be taken out of sequence and lead to unintended pregnancy. The change in order might not be obvious to new users. Patients taking this birth control should consult their physician if they're concerned about an unintended pregnancy.
