STD Cases In Maricopa County Continue To Rise, CDC Calls It A "Growing Threat"

According to the Arizona Department of Health Services, sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) have been on the rise since 2016. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) said last year the national rise in STDs is a “growing threat.”

Now come the 2017 numbers and they haven’t gone down. In fact, Maricopa County cases spiked 14 percent in 2017.

The Show spoke with Jessica Rigler with the Arizona Department of Health Services about it.

Paige Phelps was a senior producer for KJZZ's The Show from 2017 to 2019.
