Some Universities Taking Different Approach To Righting Wrongs

When someone does something wrong, in many instances, the first thought is how they should be punished. But a growing number of colleges and universities are taking a different approach.

It’s called restorative justice, an approach that's voluntary and is generally used in conjunction with other, more traditional penalties.

David Karp joined The Show to talk more about this. He’s a sociology professor at Skidmore College in upstate New York and directs the school’s Project on Restorative Justice.

Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
