Earlier this week, Westgate Entertainment District got a new owner: Bob Parsons, the founder of GoDaddy.

His company, YAM Properties, bought the Glendale development, which borders both University of Phoenix Stadium and Gila River Arena. On Wednesday, the company’s director of real estate, Dan Dahl, told The Show that Westgate could be the "crown jewel" of the Valley.

"There’s 33 acres of land that can still be developed and it is zoned for multi-uses," he said. "We have some thoughts, and we’re gonna formulate an overall site plan and work with the city of Glendale, and come up with some concepts that work best for the long term."

Mark Stapp joined The Show to offer some perspective on the potential for Westgate and what could work as part of a future development. Stapp is the executive director of the Master of Real Estate Development program at ASU’s W.P. Carey School of Business.

Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
