The Center for Disease Control and Prevention announced a salmonella outbreak linked to Kellogg’s Honey Smacks cereal.
Currently, 73 people across 31 states have gotten ill from salmonella, that includes one individual in Arizona. CDC spokeswomen Laura Whitlock said health officials are investigating.
“So our partners at FDA are investigating to find out what happened in this outbreak and how the cereal got contaminated and that investigation is still ongoing so right now," she said. "We don’t know how the cereal got contaminated.”
Whitlock also noted that it is important to throw away or return Kellogg’s Honey Smacks Cereal, regardless of the expiration date, as it has all been recalled.
