The Justice Department has asked a federal judge to modify the settlement that the administration had used as justification for separating migrant children from their parents at the southern border. The so-called Flores Settlement, drafted in 1997, prevents the federal government from detaining kids for more than 20 days.
To talk about this, The Show was joined by Leon Fresco. He runs the Global Immigration Practice at the law firm Holland & Knight. But, before that, he was a deputy assistant attorney general at the Justice Department, where he was part of an effort to modify this settlement during the Obama administration.
