As Arizona heads toward the August primary election, KJZZ's The Show is inviting candidates in contested races to talk about why they’re running and some of the key issues in their contests.

Former Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio is running for the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate against former State Sen. Kelli Ward and Congresswoman Martha McSally.

Arpaio lost his last election two years ago when he ran for a seventh term as Maricopa County Sheriff. That followed a judge finding him guilty of criminal contempt of court for ignoring orders to stop immigration roundups.

Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
