A University of Arizona fraternity has been suspended. This comes after an investigation into health and safety violations. The investigation into UA’s chapter of Sigma Alpha Epsilon resulted in the immediate closure of the chapter. The fraternity notified its members and alumni that the headquarters had closed the chapter and disbanded undergraduate membership. UA Dean of Students, Kendal Washington White said in a statement:
"We have tremendous respect for a fraternal organization that holds its members accountable for their actions," said Washington. "Sigma Alpha Epsilon informed us of the reasons for taking such serious action and we fully support that decision."
The fraternity may be able to apply for reinstatement in the future, as long as no current members are affiliated with the new chapter.
