Study Finds SUVs Especially Dangerous For Pedestrians

Automakers are moving away from traditional sedans and focusing more on crossovers and SUVs, as consumers are much more interested in buying the bigger vehicles. But SUVs are also proving to be much more dangerous for pedestrians.

Nearly 6,000 pedestrians died in the United States in 2016, according to federal data — and Phoenix has been an especially unsafe place for pedestrians.

In an article for the Detroit Free Press titled " Death on foot: America's love of SUVs is killing pedestrians," reporter Eric Lawrence looked at what has happened and what can be done to improve the situation.
