A state police vehicle that was stolen in Glendale has been recovered – but the guns that were inside are still missing.
Glendale police said the unmarked Department of Public Safety pick-up truck was found Thursday in central Phoenix. But an AR-15 rifle and a 9 millimeter handgun that had been inside the Chevy Silverado were gone.
Glendale Police spokeswoman Tiffany Smith said the unmarked vehicle had been parked overnight near a DPS officer's home when it was taken Tuesday morning. She said it’s not unusual for officers to take vehicles home. A DPS spokesman declined to comment on the incident or on the department’s policies until Glendale and Phoenix police finish investigating the incident.
