Women Win Big In Mexico's 2018 Election

While the focus of Mexico’s election this month was mostly on the man who won the presidency, Andrés Manuel López Obrador, women also won big across the board.

As these women  take their seats in public office, Mexico will now rank fourth in the world for women’s legislative representation, and it’ll be the only country with an elected senate that is majority women.

An article in the Washington Post looked at how this happened and what it means for the country.

The Show spoke with one of the authors, Magda Hinojosa, an associate professor of political science at ASU, about whether this was a sudden shift or if its been years in the making.
