For the first time at Scottsdale Airport, U.S. Customs and Border Protection processed 1,000 international aircraft in a federal fiscal year.
In 2014 CBP increased the hours and days it offered biometric screening technology. Since then, the number of international aircraft processed has doubled.
According to the airport, there were around 490 aircraft processed in FY 2012-2013. Scottsdale projects CBP will process 1,115 this fiscal year which runs from October 1, 2017 through September 30, 2018.
Most flights are from Canada and Mexico.
The airport, near Scottsdale Road and Greenway Parkway, offers no commercial airline service. It is home to many corporate jets and caters to business and leisure travel and reports 150,000 takeoffs and landings annually.
