As we head toward Arizona’s August primary elections, KJZZ's The Show is inviting the candidates in contested races to talk about why they’re running and some of the key issues in their contests.

Ken Bennett has served as president of the state Senate and as Arizona secretary of state. Now, he’s challenging Gov. Doug Ducey in the GOP primary. Bennett also ran for governor four years ago, coming in third in that Republican primary.

Bennett announced this year’s candidacy in April, in the midst of the controversy over teacher pay and education funding.

Mark Brodie is a co-host of The Show, KJZZ’s locally produced news magazine. Since starting at KJZZ in 2002, Brodie has been a host, reporter and producer, including several years covering the Arizona Legislature, based at the Capitol.
