New Jersey Company Acquires Scottsdale Veterinary Pharmacy

A company on the East Coast has acquired a veterinary pharmacy in Arizona.

The New Jersey-based company said Diamondback Drugs will stay in Scottsdale, but operate under the name Wedgewood Pharmacy. Both locations will serve as compounding pharmacies, making customized medications for pets, horses and other animals.

In a press release Marcy Bliss, Wedgewood Pharmacy’s president and CEO said, “Our deep, combined expertise in compounding medications, together with best-practice prescribing tools, will enhance our customers’ experience of doing business with us.”

“Our two organizations have a great deal in common, both historically and in serving the unique needs of veterinary medicine today,” said Fabian McCarthy, president and CEO of Diamondback Drugs.

Diamondback Drugs opened in 2002 and Wedgewood was founded in 1980. Wedgewood said more the 500 employees will serve more than 40,000 veterinarians who prescribe specialized medications when commercially available drugs are not meeting the animals’ needs.
