Is The U.S. On The Verge Of Losing The Global Tech Race?

In 1957, the Soviet Union launched Sputnik 1 into space, the first satellite to orbit the earth. The success triggered the Space Race and ushered in a wave of investment by the United States into science and technology.

Now, we need another “Sputnik moment” according to Robert Manning, a senior fellow with the Atlantic Council, an international think tank in Washington, D.C. Manning says America is in danger of falling behind in the global technology race today.

Artificial intelligence, big data, robotics and biotechnology are all coming together today, and melding the digital world with the real world economy — and Manning said the United States isn’t keeping up.

In a new report, Manning finds that the U.S.’s nationalistic attitude — and educational disadvantage — could lead the country to lose its current edge.
